This is the archive.
Here you will find a chronological story about my roller derby work. There are also links to media appearances and commercial work that I have done for roller derby centric companies. If you are just looking for my videos, you can find a complete catalog of everything I have done on my YouTube channel. The Vimeo channel has only some things in default HD quality.
Roller Derby Videos:
2008 North Star Roller Girls

This is how I got my start. It was my first year in film school and I responded to an email that went out to our entire class. The email was from someone in the league looking for someone to video their bouts. I still have the email somewhere, but I remember the last line was "--so if you want to tape girls in short skirts, hitting the crap out of each other, write us back." I guess I'm the only one who that appealed to, as I was the only one that responded out of around 300 people. Needless to say I got the job and it has been a wild ride ever since. I produced DVD's of all their bouts that season including the 2009-2010 & 2010-2011 seasons. Sadly, most have been lost or deleted. I am currently working to collect past DVD's to add to my archives. Click HERE to see some of my early work with the North Star Roller Girls when I first stared to define my technique. I left the North Star Roller Girls media team in 2011.
2009 The Rookstars

While just making the most of the opportunity to practice my video skills, I set out to follow skater Ginger McInjure during her first year as fresh meat. It really didn't fully pan out as my school work often came first. It can be found HERE.
2010 North Star Supernovas

Around 2010 I started going on the road with the North Star Roller Girls all-star team the Supernovas. The first road bout I tagged along on was the North Star Supernovas vs. the Sioux Falls Roller Dollz in Sioux Falls, ND. See what I shot HERE.
2010 East Coast Derby Extravaganza (ECDX)

Later in the summer of 2010, I begged and pleaded with the powers that be at the Philly Roller Girls to be able to shoot at ECDX with the North Star Supernovas. They eventually said okay as the Supernovas put a good word in for me (thanks Black Sunshine!). Getting the all clear, I hit the road with some fellow photog friends Wijadi & Ger and I returned home with THIS. I think PRG made the right decision. You can see the rest of my ECDX recaps HERE.
2010 Uproar on the Lakeshore: WFTDA Championship

Having caused a stir among the roller derby community, I was granted access by the Windy City Rollers to shoot the WFTDA championship (Thanks Varla Vendetta!). A lovely skater from the North Star Roller Girls Wake'o Standoff helped secure a sponsor in Roller Revolution and I made it down to Chicago to shoot every bout. The biggest hit is HERE. It has close to 100,000 views.
2011 Spring Roll

This was my first venture into shooting men's roller derby. I really don't have much to say about it. DNN asked me to shoot it, I thought, "Why not?" Watch it HERE.
2011 Junior Con

This event was being held right in Saint Paul, MN and DNN asked if I would cover it for them, so I stopped by and got footage that always makes me laugh whenever I watch it. You can see it HERE.
2011 Babe City Rollers

During my travels I heard the mythos about the Babe City Five from Bemdji, MN. I looked into it and uncovered an incredible story. I went up to visit them and found a unique league full of amazing people. I secured the rights to their story via my production company and have been developing a narrative feature film ever since based on their true story. You can see a recap video I shot of them HERE during one of my visits.
2011-2012 Hiatus

Having been locked out of WFTDA championship series events starting in 2011 due to video rights restrictions, I took a hiatus from roller derby as I finished my education. Sadly, the restrictions are still in effect so I will no longer be able to get access to any WFTDA events.
2012 Minnesota Roller Girls

Continuing to be locked out of major roller derby events due to video rights restrictions, I decided to shoot home bouts of the Minnesota Roller Girls All-Star team. Fate it would seem has a sense of humor. Just by happenstance, I showed up to shoot the MNRG All-Stars vs. the Windy City Rollers All-Stars a bout that would end up being the only tie in WFTDA history. Watch it HERE.
2013 Semi-Retired

As video access to top level roller derby continues to fade due to rights restrictions and without a home league, I have for the most part stopped shooting roller derby. I have also decided to focus all of my time on my career as a screenwriter and filmmaker. I continue to release clips of things from my archives of over 1TB of raw footage. I am pursuing avenues of archiving this data, if I can't, it will all have to be deleted.
2014 L.A. Derby Dolls

A move to Los Angeles opened a re-entry into roller derby with the Los Angeles Derby Dolls. It has also found me covering banked track roller derby a new challenge for me. My first project with LADD was to direct the webcast of Battle on the Bank VII that was held between June 6-8 in San Diego. Click HERE to see the archives of the event.
Roller Derby Commercial Work:
Roller Revolution

Sponsored my trip to Uproar on the Lakeshore in 2010. Gina runs a great shop in Saint Paul, MN. Check them out HERE. I also did and ad for them staring now retired North Star Roller Girl Stalker Channing, see it HERE.
Red Bull Banked Jam

They were doing a banked jam in Chicago, IL the Windy City Rollers told Red Bull I should be there. I was. HERE is what we came up with.
Derby Diva

A brick and mortar shop in Bronxville, NY called me up and asked if I could make some training videos for them. I did, you can find them HERE.
Fast Girl Skates

I was called out west to do this spot that played during all the WFTDA championship webcasts. You can see it HERE.
Atom Wheels

While out west, I stopped by Atom Wheels headquarters to quickly shoot some product spots. You can find them HERE.
